Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, to venture on wider seas where storms will show your mastery; where losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; and to push into the future in strength, courage, hope, and love.
– Sir Francis Drake
Humble & meek beginnings
Hey! My name is Javier, and I’m one of the founders of DiscoverHorizons. I want to thank you so much for checking out our site and being interested in our story. I didn’t wake up one day and concieve of this brand, but I feel like I always knew there would be a need for something like it. I have always been incredibly connected to the outdoors but I wasn’t always a Christian. However, even as I lived my days in disbelief, I couldn’t help but wonder at the awe of the universe and the complex beauty of our planet. I had been intrigued by it for a long time and determined to get to the bottom of searching for the “Why I am I here?” question that was burning in my soul.
There was always a sense of achievement in my heart with my accomplishments in business, but I could never get my fulfillment tank full. I was empty inside. I was chasing the wrong things in life. Sooner than later, I had remembered about my faith and started digging and researching Christian Apologetics and found that natural reason pointed towards a creator, but not just any creator, a personal and loving one. But what did this all mean? It wasn’t until I was hiking the foothills of the Appalachian Trail one afternoon, and I got to witness an incredible, almost unreal sunset. This was what I needed. Life didn’t make sense without a creator. In a sequence of logical and “faith” realizations, I knew in my heart this is what I had been searching for. I wanted a relationship with the creator of the universe.
The vision & dream
God reveals himself in many ways to us. I believe God revealed himself to me through the creation and the fingerprints of his wisdom and infinite love. During this time, I was already very well acquainted in ecommerce and ran a consulting agency helping other brand grow their business online. I knew I wanted to do something with my new found faith, but I didn’t know how to apply it. I wanted God to use me, but I didn’t ever think it would lead to this. I gathered some of my cousins to help, whom have contributed to building this brand with their creative talents and efforts. We idealized and conceptialized an outdoors brand, but one that would be inspired by the creation and spirit of the Christian adventurer. We also wanted to embody Christian virtues, and give back to our enviorment, to people, to care for the Earth and it’s inhabitants. We decided to partner with organizations that embody our biblical values. Values like being stewards of creation, caring for other humans, feeding the hungry, reveling and conserving God’s great gift to man.
Our impact & growth
In less than a year, we’ve managed to reach thousands of people, plant hundreds of trees, feed hundreds of meals to the hungry, and send gospel booklets to children around the world. Our incredible partners have made this happen when we give with each purchase made on our website and wholesale agreements. We have incredibly plans for this brand. Our dream is to one day fund mission trips to the most remote areas of the world, preserve and restore the creation in the parts where it’s been harmed and populated, and help humans lessen their impact by enabling them to build sustainable local economies. These are our dreams and aspirations and we can only ask for your help in this journey and for God’s will to be aligned with it.
We believe in being stewards of creation and want to inspire the entire planet to take care of the great gift given to us. From taking care of our forests, feeding the hungry families, to spreading God’s word to all corners of the Earth. We’ve partnered with incredible charities and we give a percentage of our overall sales to furthering these causes. We’ve designed our brand from the bottom up with this core vision in mind: Keeping the creation clean one product at a time.
